Luke 21:3-4 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.
This morning’s reading reminded me that the Lord isn’t interested in how much we give as much as He is in how much we keep. God, being omniscient, knows the proportion and extent of our sacrifice, and judges us accordingly. We may give $200 a month to the bldg, or more each month to missions. But He’s not as interested in the amount as He is the sacrifice to give that amount. There may be a single mother in the church who gives substantially less in our eyes, but significantly more in God’s economy. Might we evaluate our stewardship of our time, talents, and treasures – not against what others are doing, but against what God has given to us.
Good stuff! Just preached this truth this past Sunday!
